Alquezar – Barranco de Chimiachas

Excursions

This route starts in Alquezar. It is a very hiking route that runs between ravines and hillocks from where you can enjoy magnificent views of the Sierra de Guara and the Vero River Canyon to reach the deer of Chimiachas, within the ravine of Chimiachas.

We leave from Alquézar, and following the route of Barranco de Chimiachas we arrive at Balsas de Basacol, being able, once there, to make a rest.

We restart the march in the direction of the Abrigos de Quizans, follow the track, once in the hill (with good views of the River Vero and the walls of Las Clusas). The path leads us to follow a track, from which we will turn off shortly after to take a path on the right that will lead us to the path marked as Quizans.

During the journey we find some small stone constructions inspired in the old shepherd’s huts typical of the Sierra de Guara.

Once in Quizans we find some very valuable cave paintings. We take again the path of ascent and continue for her until the Tozal deros Tiestos, from here all the way in descent until arriving at a forest of pines that ends in the ravine of Chimiachas. Each time the ravine is closed more until arriving at a fork where this one continues straight and to our right and up, we find an enormous stone that, helping us with the hands a little, gives us access to the covacho of Chimiachas where we will admire the cave painting of the deer.
